Orchestra camp auditions

Orchestra Camp Music
There are two orchestras that rehearse and prepare for the final concert on July 17 during the SFA Orchestra camp. Placement between the two orchestras are determined by audition. There are two sets of audition materials below. High school students (9th through 12th grade) should prepare the high school excerpts and younger students (through 9th grade) should prepare the junior high orchestra excerpts. Ultimately, it is upon your discretion in which excerpts you should prepare. Some students feel the high school repertoire may be too difficult and wish to prepare the junior high school repertoire in its place. Others feel they can accomplish the high school repertoire. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach me at any time. You can call (936) 468-3885 or email me at moongh@sfasu.edu.
High school repertoire:
Serenade of Strings by Antonin Dvorak (4th and 5th movements)
Simple Symphony by Benjamin Britten (2nd movement)
(These are parts in their entirety. Excerpts will be selected upon arrival. You must be prepared to play the entire part. Second violin music is offered for those who wish to prepare those parts instead. Violins need to keep in mind that they may be placed in either section regardless of which part they present in audition. First violin parts are preferred for audition.)
