SFA Symphony Orchestra
MUP 134, 334, 534-001

The SFA Symphony Orchestra (SFASO) is directed by Gene H. Moon, Director of Orchestras. One of the flagship ensembles at Stephen F. Austin, the SFASO partners with various areas of the College of Fine Arts in presenting numerous concerts throughout the school year. These concerts include the annual opera production, the concerto/aria winners concert and Masterworks concerts, a full collaboration between the orchestral and choral divisions.
The orchestra opens its membership to all graduate and undergraduate students at Stephen F. Austin State University. The SFASO rehearses four times a week. Monday and Wednesday, 12:00 - 12:50 (strings only) and Tuesday and Thursday, 2:00 - 3:15, full orchestra. The SFASO performs repertoire from all the major eras, ranging from early Baroque through the 21st century. The orchestra also sponsors the annual Concerto/Aria Competition. Selected winners have the rare opportunity to perform with the SFASO during a regularly scheduled concert in the same season.
